Local government

How Harvest is governed, who represents you, and how to connect — plus reviewed updates from offices. Not a campaign free-for-all.

Resident explainer

How government is set up

Harvest is not one simple “city” box. Taxes, water bills, schools, and town rules can differ by street — always verify with your address.

Basics

What is an ETJ?

Extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) means you live near a town but are usually not inside town limits. You typically do not pay that town’s city property tax, and many day-to-day services (water districts, fire ESD, county) work differently than for in-town residents.

Harvest is largely unincorporated Denton County in the ETJs of Argyle and Northlake. Confirm which ETJ (if any) applies to your lot — maps and mailing addresses don’t always match.

Geography

How Harvest is often split

Neighbors commonly describe a rough pattern (lot-level verify — builders and plats can differ):

  • West of Harvest Way → often Northlake ETJ / Belmont FWSD 1
  • East of Harvest Way → often Argyle ETJ / Belmont FWSD 2

Address gate: A mailing address that says “Argyle, TX 76226” does not by itself mean you are in Argyle town limits, Argyle ISD, or Belmont FWSD 2. Check school finders, tax statements, and water bills for your property.

Schools

Argyle ISD and Northwest ISD — not NISD-only

Harvest is split between two school districts:

  • Northwest ISD (west) — e.g. Lance Thompson Elementary serves NISD-side Harvest families. Find your zone: nisdtx.org/schoolfinder
  • Argyle ISD (east) — e.g. Argyle West / Jane Ruestmann campuses on the Argyle ISD side. Zone maps: argyleisd.com school zones

Do not assume every Harvest address is Northwest ISD.

Water & special districts

Belmont FWSD, UTRWD, and town water billing

  • Belmont Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 (often west / Northlake ETJ) — belmontfwsd1.com. Water billing commonly through Town of Northlake.
  • Belmont Fresh Water Supply District No. 2 (often east / Argyle ETJ) — belmontfwsd2.com. Retail water often via Argyle Water Supply Corp / Argyle Public Works references on the district site.
  • UTRWD (Upper Trinity Regional Water District) is the regional wholesale supplier behind much of this system — utrwd.com.
  • Harvest PID #1 was dissolved by Northlake Town Council (Oct 2024) — not listed as an active district here.

Safety & county

Fire / EMS and Denton County

  • Fire / EMS: Denton County ESD No. 1 — dentoncountyesd1.gov · non-emergency (940) 464-7102. Always call 911 for emergencies.
  • County: Denton County — Judge Andy Eads; Commissioner Precinct 4 Dianne Edmondson covers the Argyle / Northlake area. County site: dentoncounty.gov.

More contacts on Help (HOA, trash, non-emergency).
